H20 Africa
URL: http://www.h2oafrica.org/Clean water lies at the heart of many of the challenges currently facing the African people - health, education, human rights - and if it's solved it can be a huge part of the solution. The H2O Africa Foundation is a humanitarian organization headed by Charlie Engle that supports sustainable, integrated water programs.
H2O Africa is raising awareness about the African water crisis, and facilitating cost-effective work that eradicates the problem in targeted regions of Africa. The objective is to empower people to action and make an impact by creating sustainable alliances between people who want to help and the communities in Africa that need clean water.
In the spring of 2007 Charlie Engle and teammates Kevin Lin and Ray Zahab set out to run the Sahara Desert from coast-to-coast. Sponsored by Magellan and National Geographic, they left behind a legacy of clean water wells in and along their route - and in the clean water crisis zones of Sub-Saharan Africa.
Running the Sahara is a Charitable Initiative of the H2O Africa Foundation. The full-length feature film documents the team's journey across the desert. Set amidst the world's most stunning ecological backdrops, the film connects real people from different continents and cultures, revealing the joy and struggles of the man-versus-nature trek.
