Alonzo Mourning

As a six foot ten center, Alonzo Mourning has made his reputation in professional basketball as a tireless rebounder and dogged defender. For sixteen years Zo has made his mark in professional basketball by out-working and out-hustling his competitors on the court. He has twice been named the defensive player of the year, he's a seven-time all-star and has won a gold medal in 2000. However, he earned his highest praise for making an inspiring comeback after undergoing a kidney transplant in 2003 and winning his first professional championship three years later.

Alonzo's most impressive accomplishment may be his community service. Not only has he helped raise more than $6 million for various organizations that aid in the educational development of children through his foundation, Alonzo Mourning Charities, but he has also developed the Overtown Youth Center that services youth in one of the inner city communities in Miami.
